Cozaar (Losartan Potassium Tablets) work
Cozaar (Losartan Potassium Tablets) works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. Cozaar (Losartan Potassium Tablets) can be taken with or without food. Losartan should be used only when clearly needed during the first three months of pregnancy. The use of Losartan is contraindicated during the last six months of pregnancy as it can cause serious fetal harm (possibly death). Patient should avoid taking potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium as it can cause muscle weakness or very slow heartbeats. It may take 3 to 6 weeks before the full benefit of Losartan occurs. Cozaar (Losartan Potassium Tablets) should be used cautiously in patients with a medical history of kidney disease, liver disease, high blood levels of potassium, heart problems, severe dehydration, and diabetes. Patient should limit alcohol intake as it may increase the side effects of Cozaar (Losartan Potassium Tablets). The patient should be cautious while performing tasks requiring mental alertness, since it is possible Cozaar (Losartan Potassium Tablets) may cause drowsiness.

Dosages 
The usual adult dose of Cozaar (Losartan Potassium Tablets) is 50mg once daily. In patients with liver disease or volume depletion, the dose of Cozaar is 25mg once daily.
