Mesacol (Mesalazine Tablets) is an anti-inflammatory aminosalicylate drug used in the treatment of ulcerative colitis, as well as other swelling and inflammations of the rectum and colon. It can also be prescribed for other conditions, including treatment of Crohns disease. The active ingredient in this medicine is a type of aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory drug which works by reducing or stopping the production of natural chemicals which cause inflammation, swelling, tissue damage, and diarrhea.

Always take as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Never change your dosage, start, or stop taking Mesacol (Mesalazine Tablets) unless recommended by your healthcare provider, and always finish the course of medication as you are directed.

Mesacol (Mesalazine Tablets) is to be swallowed whole with a full glass of water, with or without food, normally once per day at the same time. Never chew or crush the tablet as this will render the medication ineffective. It can take up to 3 weeks of use before you see any improvement. If, after this period you cannot see any change or your condition is worsening, inform your health care provider as soon as possible.
